So. there's a reason why the flag patch on the US military uniforms are "backwards".
I say "backwards" because it's not actually reversed. There are a few reasons, actually. But this is the reason that I love the most:
The flag is worn that way to represent the past flag bearers in history. When a flag bearer march forward, the flag reacts to the movement and flies in the breeze; thus, the part that's closes to the flag pole (in this case the blue box and stars) becomes the front.
